Colocation in the Netherlands: your own hardware in our data centre
With colocation you place your own hardware in our data centre. You own and manage the server; we provide the space, power, cooling and network. It is the step beyond a dedicated server, for people who know exactly which machine they want to run.
When colocation makes sense
Usually in three situations. You already own hardware you want out of your home or office. You have very specific requirements no standard plan covers. Or you have worked out that owning hardware costs less than renting over several years.
If none of those apply, a dedicated server is almost always the simpler choice.
Where your server sits
Our racks are in Previder PDC2, a Tier 3 data centre in Hengelo. That means redundant power and a redundant network: during maintenance or an incident your equipment keeps running.
Your server connects to our network with direct WDM links to Nikhef in Amsterdam and peering on Speed-IX, Frys-IX, Inter-IX and LS-IX. With our own ASN we control our routing, which means we are not dependent on a single party when something goes wrong.
What you handle
You are responsible for the hardware itself: the operating system, maintenance and replacement if something fails. We make sure the environment around it is right. For access to your machine you can use remote management.
